Mike Malek, International Business Development |
Mike Malek has over 23 diverse and proven years of experience in start-up operations, international business development, technical management, operations, exporting, manufacturing, teaching, marketing and Intelligence, in industrial sectors which included automotive, high-tech, production automation, industrial services, aluminum and non-ferrous molding, unleaded alloys for drinking water and environmental.
In 2004 Mr. Malek took the commitment as a Contractor for the American Department of Defense living in the Middle-East for over two years in support of the Intelligence community, where he streamline the operation and taught several subjects, in addition, he was a member of the Total Quality Control Program and Standard Operating Procedures (SPO’s) Executive team for several areas and departments.
Prior to the US Department of Defense, Mr. Malek was the CEO of Tecnofibra/Bracyfibra, a start-up manufacturer of compressed gas cylinders used in the automotive industries for Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) and Fuel Cell.
Before launching Tecnofibra, Mr. Malek spent six years as the Senior Director of Improtech, a European consortium of capital equipment used in the medical and automotive industries. It was here that Mr. Malek introduced state-of-the-art equipment and technology to the North American market, while traveling internationally selecting distributors and agents.
Prior to Improtech, Mr. Malek worked for 6 years at Schumann, a copper based alloys producer. In his role as Division Director, he was responsible for all North American activities including sales, marketing, profit and loss, out-sourcing to high-tech manufacturers and automation of production and finishing equipment. While working at Schumann, key customers as Harley-Davidson, Chrysler, Kholer and others engaged Schumann for Mr. Malek’s services, Mr. Malek did a research and develops a valve to control the hydrogen gas for a fuel cell and to Re-engineer a production process of aluminum liners for cylinders under ISO 11439. These engagements preceded Mr. Malek’s analysis of the fuel cell and alternative fuel market, eventually leading to his design of a manufacturing facility which produces lightweight cylinders for storage of compressed gases.
Prior to Schumann, Mr. Malek was the International Vice President of IMR, in Milan, Italy. Before IMR, he held several positions of increasing responsibility for Italcomponenti construction Company in Italy, the last position held as an International Sales and Marketing Manager.
Mr. Malek received his Engineering degree from the Naval Institute of Rome; a Master of Marketing and Business Administration from the Polytechnic Institute of Commerce in Milan, Italy; and his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Don Bosco in Alexandria. He is fluent in English, French, Italian, Arabic and familiar with Spanish, and Portuguese.
Mr. Malek has taught at the Cast Metals Institute (CMI), and the Non-Ferrous Founders’ Society (NFFS), he also served as Board Member of the (AFS) American Foundry Men's Society among several other technical affiliations. He also reviewed the Standards Handbook issued by the Copper Development Association (CDA).
